Yoga classes with Becks draw on her 20 years experience of practicing yoga to provide you with a complete workout for mind and body. With regular practice yoga can reduce stress and bring about a sense of calm, improve breathing and increases energy levels. BARRECONCEPT

Want to tone up? Improve your core strength & flexibility? Well, this is the class for you!  BarreConcept incorporates the precision of Pilates with the positions, moves, grace and technique of ballet.  Add to this the alignment of yoga and the strength from sports conditioning and you will have all of the aspects of a typical Barre workout. 

Becks was one of 9 instructors in the UK first trained in BarreConept in 2010. It has proved a really popular class as the combined elements fuse to form a challenging and exciting workout, which stretches and sculpts the muscles, whilst burning fat.  Balance, strength, stamina, power, flexibility and motor control all improve.  This workout produces dramatic results that sculpt and redefine the entire body, WITHOUT even being a dancer.  We work mostly with bodyweight only and from time to time use blocks and light hand weights to sculpt long lean muscles. Barre classes focus on legs, glutes, core and arms with part of the class taking part on your mat.

Barre builds strength and flexibility in a safe low-impact manner through controlled, purposeful movements. You can expect a well-rounded toning workout and will feel lengthened, stretched and relaxed by the end of your class.

SILVER SWANS®

Silver Swans® Ballet classes have been developed by the Royal Academy of Dance. From experienced dancers to those that don’t know their plié from their pointe, everyone is welcome to our popular Silver Swans Ballet classes.
This programme is based on research into dance practice and can only be taught by Silver Swans® licensed teachers, of which Becks is one of! Becks was on the pilot training in 2018 and has throughout lockdown Whether you’re an experienced dancer, have briefly dabbled or are a complete novice, we welcome all learners of any ability to try out Silver Swans classes.

BALLROOM BLITZ

A fab-u-lous 45 minute workout that will work your entire body! Ballroom Blitz combines the best known and popular Latin and Ballroom dances with proven fitness techniques, to develop a dance/fitness programme that is capable of delivering fast fitness results with a heap of fun thrown in!

MOVE ASSURE

Move-Assure is the perfect combination of dance and wellbeing, to help you get your wellbeing back.

The Move-Assure Dance for Mental Wellbeing programme was created by Lindsey Lovatt (who is an occupational therapist and mental health specialist), Dame Darcey Bussell (who is a former principal ballerina with the Royal Ballet Company and the founder of DDMiX, a dance fitness program) and Dr Peter Lovatt (a Psychologist with a special interest in movement and dance, and the author of The Dance Cure).

The Move-Assure Dance for Mental Wellbeing programme has two main elements. It has a dance element and it has a mental wellbeing element.

The Mental Wellbeing element is grounded in practical advice and activities to help you develop resilience around your own mental wellbeing. Move-Assure does this by including a mental wellbeing quiz, so that you can keep track of changes in your mental wellbeing, by including “Did You Know?s” at the end of each dance sessions, by including weekly wellbing tips that help you to develop a wellbeing toolkit and by providing weekly wellbeing coaching sessions. The Dance element can be done anywhere, at any time. The dance sessions are based on 17 different dance styles, which stimulate a range of positive feelings.  You don’t need to be a dancer to dance with Darcey and Peter, or to wear any special clothes. The dances are taught slowly and simply, and they build up across the sessions.

The most important thing to remember about Move-Assure is that it’s not a workout, it’s wellbeing.

TAP

Tap dancing is fun, social and rewarding! Tap is singing without the words, you make music with your feet. Tap consists of lots of rhythms that get more intricate the advanced you get.
Our expert Tap Teacher Judith has been teaching Tap for over 20 years!
She makes the classes fun for all abilities, guiding you through a catalogue of great steps and putting it altogether into fabulous routines. You’ll get fit, learn a new skill and have loads of fun!

CHILDREN’S CLASSES

Our children’s classes are much more than just dance. Our main focus is fun! 
We bring together a variety of dance disciplines as well as using song, sign and stretching to offer a varied class that Starlight kids love!  
Starlight children’s classes are a great foundation for dancing and those that have their eyes on the stage! As we run our regular weekly classes out of Hereford Musical Theatre Company, we host regular performances to help increase children’s confidence.

A typical Starlight Dance class incorporates Zumba kids, Musical Theatre, Jazz, contemporary and Yoga! We have a fantastic range of teachers who all bring their own specialism to the studio!

SCHOOLS We can also provide PPA cover within schools, run after school clubs or one-off sessions. We even can provide CPD Dance Training to school teachers looking for simple and innovative ideas to bring Dance into their lessons.
